  1. I briefly attended Stockton Grammar from April – Dec ’61. I was a ‘Thornaby’ lad at school in Kenya where my Dad was in Civil Aviation and whilst on ‘long leave’ we lived at Mill Lane in Billingham.
Names I remember are Eddie Lee (from Roseworth now in Canada?), Alan Whiley(sic) a swimmer last seen at ICI Billingham about ’68, Johnnie Bousfield last seen at Dickens big store on Portrack lane and a Alan? Harbron who is/was a distant cousin. Have never forgotten Charlie Goulding! His bite was about the same as his bark, but still one of the best teachers I’ve ever had! The mortality rate quoted by Dave Moody seems pretty horrifying.

  2. Back row, left to right, Phil Hartley (deceased), Jeremy Whitehead, Steve Gutteridge, David McMann, Martin Jukes, ‘Hairy’ Henderson (deceased), Michael Dobbs, David Gordge, Dave Swanston, ‘Tippy’ McGee (deceased), John Surtees. Middle row Brian Taylor (deceased), Dave Moody, Geoff Peacock (deceased), Brian Close, George Law, Johnny Longstaffe, Malcolm Fielder. Front row Mick Vaines, Mick Riley, Arthur Richardson (deceased), Trevor Jones, Geoff Adams, Stewart Thomson, David Shields, Alan Hall and ‘Olly’ Carr (deceased). There were 28 in this class, 7 have died, thats 25% by the age of 62 years old.

  3. This photograph was taken outside the boys toilet, in the yard at Garbutt Street. The photo was taken in 1962 and the school moved from these premises to their Fairfield site within two years of this photo.
