  1. You are right Kevin about St Marys Church in the top picture, the building on the right with white paint on it is Chapmans garage,to the left of this building was the their workshop entrance in Bone Street and the white building on the left was the Turks Head pub which was in Thompson Street,so this photo would have been taken at about Hume Street.

  2. The church in the first picture is St. Mary’s on Norton Road. The buildings in front of it were awaiting demolition so the new section of A1305 could continue to join Norton road at the Maritime Road roundabout.

  3. I can recognise the bottom picture as being the riverside road, but where is the top one the large building in the background looks like a church?

  4. The riverside road was completed a couple of years before these shots were taken so I think they are related to improvements to the A1305 that cut through the North East corner of the churchyard to Yarm Road. The existing roundabout was enlarged at this time. This explains why there is already a roundabout sign in place. The first photo shows the other new section of the A1305 at the north end of town, between Bishopton Road and Norton Road.

  5. The lower photograph is Riverside Road with Halfords roundabout and Bridge Road off to the left. Big buildings in the background right are the parcel delivery depot – so this looks like when the Riverside Road was being laid down.
