  1. You are right Julian,Donny Heath did play for Hartlepool United,he played 105 times for Norwich City reaching the F.A.Cup semi-final,that season he scored against Man Utd at Old Trafford past Alex Stepney. He played 117 times for Swindon Town where he won a Football League Cup and Anglo-Italian Cup winners medal, at Oldham Athletic he played 60 times in their promotion team, at Peterborough United he played 44 times and then he finished at Hartlepool United playing 37 times.

  2. Thanks Anon. I went to school with Don’s son (Darren), we were in the same class the way junior school, along with his nephew Lee (a year younger than me and neice, Donna (a year older). I’s sure he played for Hartlepool towards the end of his career… maybe memory fails me!

  3. Don Heath played for Norwich City,Swindon Town and Oldham Athletic. He later was manager of Crook Town and South Bank. Donny is the younger brother of a well known Stockton lad Malcolm (Mally) Heath and Lee Turnbull is Donny’s nephew, the son of his sister Carol whose husband Terry (Big T)Turnbull played for Hartlepool United. He was a centre forward like Lee. I hope this answers your question Julian.

  4. Don Heath Sports…..didn’t Don used to play for Hartlepool Utd? If memory serves me well, some members of his family also played for Middlesbrough FC too – Lee Turnbull for one?

  5. I think the shop in this location was called Sportsdrome at somepoint it then moved to Ramsgate prior to fianl closure. Very keen supporters of all local sports especially football and cricket.

  6. I think the place you mean, Anon, was opposite Ward Thomsons and was called Playsports. The guy who ran it was really supportive of local football and let us have several football team strips on tick. I believe the shop moved later to the shopping precinct near WH Smiths.
