    • Hi This is Dave Randall John was my best fiend I’m three from the end john is above me he knows me could you contact me I’m ion Russia

  1. I bought a book in a jumble sale in Robin Hoods Bay 15 or more yrs ago while on holiday in the village.
The title is “For the faith” inside it says it was presented to Robert Strachan for regular attendance year ending 1906 by A Goodall Head Teacher of Tilbery Boys School.
If there is anyone related to Robert who would like the book passed on to them I would be glad to do this.

  2. NO WONDER I WAS ALWAYS IN TROUBLE ; I’VE BEEN RECOGNISED IN TWO OR THREE DIFFERENT POSITIONS ON THIS PHOTO ; I’M NOT EVEN ON IT . I LEFT TILERY SCHOOL AND WENT TO FREDDY NATT IN 1950 AGED 10 WHEN WE MOVED TO ROSEWORTH; TOP ROW 4TH LEFT RAY WATSON NEXT TO PHILLIPS 8TH ONE OF THE TINKLER LADS OFF TILERY ROAD ; 72 NOW AND LIVING IN SPAIN .

  3. This photo must have been taken before 1957 with John Macalees and Ellis Skipper who will be at least seventy one years old.

  4. Second row from bottom second left is Arthur Nightscales, fourth left Davie Clarke, fifth left Wally Palfreman, next to him may be John Macalees? Please raise your hand if it is! Next Kenny Phillips, Jacky Cuthbert, Lewis Tighe and Bobby Gunn on the end. Fourth row up extreme left is Kenny Umpleby, fourth left Jack Stephenson. Top Row sixth from left is Eddie Crawford. Hope this helps, memory is very rusty after 50 plus years.

  5. Did any Tilery school lad ever get hold of a photo taken at Billingham baths when a young Brian Clough was invited along to give out awards? I know there was a photo of me and John Calvert, Ray Ramsden and others with the deputy mayor of Stockton taken as we were awarded some of the first survival badges – would love a copy if any out there. Please ask PictureStockton team for my e-mail address. I swam for Ropner house (red), in my class were John Davidson, Eric Whitehouse, Denis Carter, George Liddle, Ray Ramsden, John Calvert and lots of other great lads. Think photos from this time would have been taken around
    60/61/62. I left school Christmas 62-63 period.

  6. Third from left, second row (behind Mike Renwick)is Derek Wade – me! Bottom row far right hand end is Geoff Sanderson.

  7. The picture was taken between the caretakers house and the clinic. Fifth from left on the bottom row is David Bowes, behind him I believe is Dazza Clarke in the white sleeved shirt, I’m on his right shoulder and left of me is Dennis Butler. Others I can name are John Laing, John Thomas, Louis Tighe, Ellie Skipper, Micheal Cunningham, Barry Canham, Ray Stephenson, Kenny Ness – sorry lads the other names escape me, you know old age.

    • Hi John, I’ve just happened across this photo, you mentioned Dennis Butler to the left of you in the Photograph, I’m wondering if this is my Dad. I’ve never seen any pictures of him as a lad, I don’t suppose you can give me any more details? Thanks

      • Hi Denis, if your dad went to Tilery School in the fifties then that will be him , sorry I can’t tell you much about him although I went through all my school years in the same class with him, but after leaving school lost touch, I haven’t seen him for years, is he still doing ok?

  8. There are three boys from Portrack seated on the right of the picture, three rows up. The one in the centre of this tiny group is Derek Fisher, I think. The one at the end is John ?, who used to live at the main fish and chip shop on Portrack Lane. There is also another boy, from Portrack, in the exact centre the third row, with thick blond hair. I think his name was Tommy Peers.

  9. You know I’ve been trying to place the siting of the shot – is that the clinic on the right?
As for the names I’m afraid that is a complete blank – my only excuse is that it was 53 years ago – sorry.

  10. Can you name any other lads on photo, Mike? Went to Tilery boys myself, left Christmas 62, would know any lad who lived in Swainby & Danby Rd on the photo.

  11. Front row third from left – was I ever really that young?
The book was ‘Emil and the detectives’ by Erich Kästner.
