My grandmother Margaret Miller, known as Maggie, b. 1881 in Eryholme, a trained hospital nurse, is on the 1911 census as “servant’ as all the nurses appear to be. In fact, she is called a “Probate maid” .
She married aged 37 and became Mrs Cuthbert-Williams; my late father was her only child. I have only this evening found out that this is her hospital. I am absolutely delighted to know. Might she be one of the nurses in this picture?
Can you tell me any more about the hospital in her time, and her life as a nurse there, please? Sadly, she died before I was born. I am not familiar with the area at all, as I live far away. Any information , help or suggestions will be most welcome. Thank you.
