Jack Durnall wasn’t in the Wingate team listed as Kyle; Davison, McGregor; Bell, Iddon, Keegan; Presho, Herring, Nicholson, Connell, Hennessey.
Jacky Durnall would have played for Wingate that day because he was in the Stockton team the season after. Wingate was always a good Wearside League team.
The Stockton team is: Green; Cole, Geldart; Garbutt, Atkinson,Lowe; Taylor, Moody, Pearson, Cockerill, Escritt. Any alterations, it says, ‘will be announced over the loud-speaking installation’. The back of the programme reports on the progress of the junior side, including ‘in the match against Fishburn our young goalkeeper, Malcolm Warton, distinguished himself by saving two penalties, whilst in last week’s match at Thornaby, 15 year old David Connor was the star of a goal-hungry forward line’. Leading junior goalscorers were: P Caldwell 31, D Connor 21, T Gilbert 15, G Street 12.
