  1. Hi there, I am doing some research on Non-League football in the Teeside area. I am after any information you have on Head Wrightsons FC, and where their ground is. I know the club was still going up until recent years

    • The current football pitch of Thornaby FC was the Head Wrightson’s cricket pitch. The football pitch was on the field above this next to Thornaby cemetery. Information and photo is in the book “Life at Heads”

      • There was two football pitches a senior & junior pitch. When Head Wrightsons had Teesdale Park there was also tennis courts & a bowling green.

  2. I remember walking from school, on the footpath which goes under the railway, past or near this Head Wrightson site during the 1960’s with loud noises, bangs, a grimy haze and masses of flying sparks visible from gaps in the adjacent black building.
