Stockton Scouts

This parade was probably to celebrate either St. Georges Day or Rememberence Sunday c1953/54. The first picture of the marching scouts shows them passing the Odeon, which is showing the film ’A Queen is Crowned’. The second was taken as they passed the Shambles. Courtesy of Dorothy Butler.

  1. The second picture is later than the first. I am on the inside of the fourth row and on the second row is Mal Beaver 11th Stockton Brunswick. Looking at Denis Wright I would make a stab at 1957/58.

  2. Its definitely the Wright brothers Robert & Denis in the two photos from Oxford Street and went to Bailey Street School, as mentioned by Dorothy Butler.05/04/2012 18:24:18

  3. I think the young man immediately to the rear of the district commissioner is Roger Atkinson who was a member of the 1st Fairfield troop. If that is the case, then later on his brothers Clifford and Geoff were also members of the same troop. Geoff unfortunately died prematurely in his early teens from cancer.02/04/2012 09:55:04

  4. The first picture shows my brother Robert marching 4th behind the boy carrying the flag while the second photo shows my other brother Denis carrying the second flag as they march past the Shambles.
