Two of the players in this photo were local football hardmen Gilly Dunford & Peter Smith as well as being good footballers. Lee Nicholson is the father of the Stockton Town captain & centre-back Adam.
Players in this photo that appear in the Queens Club team elsewhere on this site are Colin Taylor, Gilly Dunford and Barry Chambers, all who played for Head Wrightsons and the Queens Club for a number of years.
From the Head Wrightsons 1965 team photo only Gilly Dunford has survived in this 1972 team.The coach Keith Moody was playing for Whitby Town in the 1965 F.A.Amateur Cup Final at Wembley.The team is as follows back-row L to R Lee Nicholson(the manager’s son),Peter Smith,Colin Taylor,Gilly Dunford,Barry Chambers,Dave English,Norman Ritchie,Keith Moody(Coach),front-row L to R Ray Moore,Steve Wedge,??,Maurice(Moggy)Robinson,Ernie Johnson.
A lot of the other players in this photo played in the Teesborough Sunday League for the Portrack Social Club (the Blood Tub).
