Last month (21st-30th August) my son and I had 10 great days, staying in Broomhill,10mls. up from Morpeth. The plan was to meet up with three cousins I’d not seen in 55yrs. (a heck of a long time) but sure good to find them still taking the air in Billingham!! – Hi guys-if you read this.
The trip was twofold, sightseeing and finding, not only Alan(David), Peter and Tony Hughes but to find my Grandad, James Duncan,b.1871-Liverpool–d.1931,60yrs.-another one that didn’t get his full three score and ten. But, the important thing was, we found him in Acklam Rd. cemetery, on our last day, on the way back home to Gloucester. If the gravediggers had not been at it digging a triple deep grave on that day, we would have gone back with nowt. Thanks guys, should you read this. One last thing – IS THERE ANYONE OUT THERE THAT HAS A PHOTO OF GLADSTONE STREET, THORNABY—–NOT THE ONE WE FOUND VIA SATNAV–THE STREET THAT WAS PULLED DOWN IN THE 70s. It used to be very close to the old racetrack, on the Stockton side of the river.
