  2. Late 1950’s this one? The High St so quiet for vehicular traffic at 10:00am that the lady can merely stroll across the road toward The Shambles without even using the ‘Zebra’ crossing. However, the ‘sign of things to come’ is highlighted by the Central School of Driving’s offices, which heralds the widespread increase in private car-ownership by the mid-60’s
