The infamous Sea Gem was the first British built oil rig – although, in reality it was just a huge drilling barge with 10 adjustable legs added. In December 1965 she also became the first serious accident in the North Sea oil field when two of her legs collapsed and she capsized. 13 crew died in the incident.
