Flood Cottage, High Church Wynd, Yarm

t12787This privately owned cottage has a marker (seen above the garage door) to indicate the height of the 1881 Tees flood that devastated the town of Yarm.There is a similar marker on the wall of the Town Hall in the High Street.

  1. I saw this house being extended about 1950, and would loved to have lived in it. It was always my favourite Yarm house, and whenever I’m in Yarm and see it, I’m transported back in time to when I was a very young boy. My great, great grandfather was a Yarm man, and I can claim to have a Yarm ancestral background!
