  1. The Joe Collins mentioned in the programme is the theatrical agent/entrepreneur father of Jackie and Joan Collins

  2. Went to see Joe on Saturday night in Torquay. He played Hava Nagila but not behind his head this time. Excellent show. Such versatile musicians.

  3. I was there! I remember it well. Can’t quite remember if it was as part of the annual ICI Billingham trip to the panto. We used to get a bag of sweets I think and a drink.

  4. Info on the supporting act Of the Marie De Vere Dangers is on line, it appears that they were regulars at Butlins which of course would make them naturals for winter work on pantomimes. There is also information on the Pan Yue Jen Troupe of acrobats from the same source. What we need to know is, was Peter Reagan the same man who married Olivia Hamnett who appeared in many 1960s TV series before going to Australia?

    • Would like to know more about the Marie De Vere dancers.. More De Vere was a relative by marriage. Can you help?

  5. Standing joke with my children that Mum chased Joe Brown down Stockton High Street to try and get his autograph in the 60’s. Actually going to see him this Saturday in Torquay. Maybe have more luck with the autograph now!!

  6. I went to see this show at the age of four, the only thing I can remember is Joe playing the guitar behind his head.

    • I remember the behind the head guitar playing and also the tune, it was Hava Nagila, I have an MP3 file of a documentary about Joe Brown and he mentions that the first panto he played in was at The Globe in Stockton-on-Tees, if anybody wants a copy of the documentary then contact me through this site.
