  1. The film “Who’s Minding the Store” came out in 1963, which ties in with the type of car and relative absence of traffic jams.

  2. The Globe was the up-market cinema in Stockton and was able to splash out with publicity. I remember that when ” The Day the Earth Stood Still” was shown, in 1951, they had an 8ft tall replica of the robot in the foyer. It was awesome (a word we didn’t use at the time) being massively built, all white figure, with just a black slit, for eyes, underneath the helmet.

    I think that they also showed the 3D films, or was that done in the Odeon?

  3. Does anybody remember Sams next door to Maxwells? I bought my mother a lawn mower when I first started work in 1954 on terms of course, it lasted for many years until electric took over.

  4. Great memories of going to the Minors on a Saturday morning at the Globe and always buying a Mivi or Choc ice.
