The Svensksund and Svanesund with the same gross tonnage of 1348 were both built at Haverton Hill shipyard and both owned by SVEA. The keel on the Svensksund was laid on 2nd July 1947 and the keel on the Svanesund was laid on 9th July 1947, they were launched jointly on 11th May 1948.
