A view of the much later industrialised port of Stockton. This 3 masted barque comes alongside Corporation Quay in the mid 1930s to load firebricks for Mauritius.
I had a picture of a sailing vessel coming under the transporter bridge in 1935 (I think). It was the Herzogen Cecille, owned and skippered by Alan Villiers, who also wrote a number of books detailing his life in sail, while cargo carrying sailing ships were still in existance. Could this be that vessel?
I did think she was going to load ammonium nitrate at Billingham for Australia, but I could be confusing this for another vessel.

David – the Herzogen Cecilie was a four masted windjammer, much larger than the barque in the photo at Stockton quay.
