Billingham and Romanby ploughmen in competition at the Horse Championships which took place in Crosby, Northallerton. John Dixon of Glebe Farm, Billingham became the eventual winner in the ploughing class.
I attended the school on the green in the mId to late 1940s. We were often told of the Dixon successes and I seem to recall that one year the Dixon family won a North American ploughing match. Does anyone have any information on that?
I REMEMBER THE DIXONS. THE FARM HOUSE WAS JUST OFF THE GREEN. A LOVELY FAMILY. WON PLOUGHING COMPETITIONS ALL OVER THE NORTH EAST.
