This impressive building built in 1862 stood on the north side of Wellington Street and was used by the Stockton Freemasons until c1873 when it was sold to Stockton Corporation. From 1877 until c1968 it was used to house the towns public library. We believe the building was demolished in 1972.
At the time the powers that be thought they where doing the right thing in the name of progress – little did they know. It was a fine building.
