We stumbled upon this wall art painted on the side of a West Row building in Stockton on Friday 16th August. We presume it is in homage to the old West Row Fire Station. Situated in the middle of the wall art hangs a fire place…
Does not make sense to me why they have the fireplace stuck in the middle of such lovely art work maybe someone can enlighten me. I remember it being the fire station growing up in the sixties often wondered how they managed to get the fire engines out at speed via Dovecot Street
On closer inspection I noticed that the artist responsible for this work also painted the Locomotion No1 wall art which is in the Bishop Street car park . Has anyone else spotted his ‘monicker’ ? It’s a bit like spotting ‘Mousey’ Thompsons trademark mouse on his work !

It is the new West Row Arts Centre , some details here ; http://www.thenorthernecho.co.uk/news/10543148.New_art_for_Tees_town/

I see it has been made possible with help from the Stockton Council ‘Grants For Historic Buildings’ fund . Lets hope there are many more such renovations to follow before it’s too late !!
Thanks David makes much more sense now. Congrats to the designer.
