There was an old style tailor called Donald Carruthers had a shop on Silver Street.
Lockwoods shoe shop, the place of school shoes, black t bar one year brown t bar the next, suitable for being built up at the hospital in Middlesbrough! everything full circle when my son got his first shoes there – even though I live in Essex mum reckoned it was the only place he would get measured properly!
