This is the back of Stafford Place/Square, an L shaped group of terraced houses that faced onto Sun St. The back of the old Methodist Chapel would be just to the left of this photo. The photo was taken from Pottery St., after demolition of the houses that would have stood in front of us. everyone mentions the green in Thornaby but they do not mention Mrs Smith who lived at the white cottage on the upper end of the green she use to sell pop and fruit and veg at her door.
Worked with her husband, Harry Smith for a short while at Head Wrightson.

Just further down from this I used to take my car to be serviced at a garage converted from a church. The owner was Albert Cockerill. I dealt with him for years and bought my cars from him. Just further on was the Council yard.

Too much of slope to be Derby Terrace. It looks more like the area between Peel Street and Queens Street (it would fit in with the slope), or even the rear of somewhere like Sun Street.
could this be Walker Street just after demolition?
