  1. As I mentiond above I found my old autograph book up in the loft. Full of signatures of various pop stars etc who appeared at the Globe in the 60s . My friends and I stood outside the stage door for ages waiting to see our ‘idols’ and get their autographs. The long waits paid off as I recently sold my album for £350. Would have been more if I had managed to get the Beatles as well on that famous night November 22nd 1963.

  2. Interesting one, definitely looks like Tony Meehan, have looked up Frank Ifield’s website which states that he appeared with The Shadows in 1960. Could explain things?

  3. I found my old autograph book the other day and couldn’t quite understand why I should have Ken Platt’s autograph in it along with the pop stars of the day.
    Now I know why…

    • I have also acquired an old autograph book, the dates on it lead me to believe that some of the autographs were obtained at the Globe e.g. autographs of 3 members of The Shadows Hank Marvin, Jet Harris & Bruce Welch dated 26/12/1961 (possibly during Dick Whittington Panto).

However some other autographs are dated 6/9/1961 i.e. Cliff Richard and The Shadows, Terry Hall with Lenny The Lion, Tommy Trinder and other names I don’t recognise, Does anybody know where these appeared together and possibly have a programme or list?

      • I have a recollection of Cliff and the Shadows- as opposed to the Shadows on their own – appearing in Panto in ‘Alladin’.The other names would seem to fit in with that… However September seems to be a bit early for the panto season !!

  4. An interesting picture of the Shadows, Hank Marvin, Bruce Welch, Jet Harris but who is the drummer pictured above Jet Harris? It can’t be Tony Meehan as he left the Shadows in October 1961 to be replaced by Brian Bennett but it doesn’t look like Brian Bennett to me . . . . or is it?
