Saw Rowan Atkinson do a one man show here about 1980/1 in aid of the church at the top of the High Street. Sat sideways with bingo machines in front…..very funny, very weird!
12 years later John and I’ve seen your post.. I remember this performance also. David Whittington, the vicar of Stockton Parish Church was Chaplin of Rowan Atkinsons college at Oxford. He asked, and Rowan Atkinson agreed, to do a performance of The Secret Policeman’s Ball in aid of church funds. A fabulous evening.
