When I was a child in the late 50’s to early 60’s my Aunt (Mavis Wells) & sometimes my Uncle (John Wells), if it was a weekend would take me for a walk to Wolviston where we would take bread & feed the Ducks here, then afterwards we would buy Pear Drop Sweeties at a little shop, (I don’t remember the name of the shop, does anyone else?) for the walk back home. Such lovely memories of two people who shared my childhood, sadly they are no longer with us, but memories such as this will be forever with me. Thank you for the photo.
For years I harvested daphnia (water fleas?) from here to feed my goldfish. As I recollect, this corner won a major national competition as a place of outstanding beauty!
It was called Scotland Pond because it is beside Scotland House. How the house got its name is another question.
It’s called Scotland Pond. Does anyone know why?
