Does anyone have any information about a George Albert Thomas who used to live in 1 Gilmour street in the 50s/60s. And if he is still alive or if he has passed.
My Dad Sidney Jackson and his siblings were brought up on Gilmour Street number 54 I think. His father and my great Grandfather had a clock shop in Thornaby but I don’t think the road is there any longer. Also my Great Great Great Grand Fathers of 3 generations in the early 1800’s had a Jackson hat shop business in Thornaby, but I’m not sure of road.
I thought it was the end of Peel St and that was old Henry’s shop .
The edge of the wall on the left side of the picture is the school yard wall of the boys playground at Westbury Street a Junior School. The building in the picture wad a shop when I was a pupil at the school in the early 60’s.
This edge wall was the lane behind Millers place my house was number 5 Gilmour Street I used to watch the cows go to the butcher shop down this lane.
I played here all the time until leaving in 1962 for Australia.
