  1. This is my mothers family, her maiden name was Audrey Wittering. The little boy standing at the right side of the photograph next to Arthur Thomas bears a strong resemblence to my grandad. I’ve been told by my uncle Tom Wittering, that the lady in the photograph was Grandma Matchet. She appears later in my Grandad’s wedding photograph (late1920’s?), with his new wife, Harriet Mabel Wittering. If you have any other Wittering family info I’d love to see it.

  2. My Mam was a Wittering, her Dad was called George. The only Uncles name I can remember is Harold. The lady in the photo looks like Granma Matchet (not certain if this is the correct spelling and I assume she must of married again)

    • This is the same family of my wife’s mother, her mothers maiden name was Mary Jane Dixon, she married Arthur Thomas Wittering at Stockton Parish Church on 26-11-1900. Arthur Thomas died 24-1-1917, Mary Jane then married Robert Matchet at St.James church on 2-1-1922.

      • Thank you so much for putting the photo on the archive William, it’s fascinating to see my direct family from the early 1900’s and how their facial looks have carried on up to today!

        • Yes grandma Matchet looks like my sister Amanda…my dad is George Edward also know as Ted he also has a look of grandma Matchet…lovely to see this picture. Hope people can find more and put them on…thanks.
