We lived in Mill Street in 1953 and can remember my dad along with uncle Joe Jackson,Harry Bowman and Stan Raw going away on the coach. They loaded the bus up with crate’s of beer,it was a lovely sight. All my family ( should I say the men ) were regular’s when Bob Carroll was the landlord,I can remember all the domino players putting their Pennie’s on the table, along with the card school.Such happy wonderful memories.
I can see a lot of faces I can recognise but because of the order they are in it is hard to define them. One in particular on the front row 3rd right is called Tommy Hill. He was a joiner who served his time for Ronnie Lee. At that time he lived in Centenary Crescent. In later years (late 50’s) he worked with me at Head Wrightsons at Thornaby. Bob Irwin
My father is at the front left with his jacket open and showing his waste coat. Immediately behind him with the light coloured raincoat is Billy Mole better known as Billy Eagling who had the bicycle shop just a few doors down from the George and Dragon. To the right of Billy is Harry Malthouse who in later years owned the pub in Elton. Just under the rear window of the bus is Syd {Price who lived in Mill Street and next to him Ronnie Lee the Property Repairer and Joiner. Front row centre wearing flat cap stripe tie and light coloured suit is Dickie Barnes, father of Lennie Barnes often mentioned on here as a Richard Hind lad who represented the school at football and athletics and in later years a welder at Head Wrightsons. Looking over Dickies left shoulder is Bobby Walker. There are others I can name but putting them in order is difficult.
Mr Irwin, Picture Stockton have been good enough to make it easier for you and anybody else to put names to faces at specific locations, for the benefit of us all.
Just noticed this is a Bee-Line coach, another name long gone. Also any idea’s as to who the only female I can see, could be?
