Back when cars, vans, buses and trucks all shared the dual carriageway of a High Street with pedestrians and look… no barriers, how did we survive? I can’t see how that could of continued, I don’t miss it.
Other spots include 17 “flying saucer” lamp posts, the guy in the donkey jacket below the “Times Furnishings” sign looks like he’s posing for an artwork and Tina Turner (big hair and high heels) waiting for a bus (though it looks like she doesn’t want to go to Stillington)
And the Ford Cortina taxi turning into Wellington Street. Always remember the market like that, loads of stalls. I’m thinking photo was taken on a Saturday, as I think the market was bigger on a Saturday than a Wednesday?

A reminder of how many people used to come into ‘town’ to shop – particularly to the market; it’s a far cry from today. What a lovely nostalgic photo!
