The Royal George in Thornaby Road was a busy Camerons pub until it went into decline in the 1990’s. It has recently been converted into student accomodation. This photograph was taken one afternoon in the lounge area c1975. Who are these regulars? I wonder if anyone recognises them.

This is my nana and grandad Judy and Ron pike
Who owned the pub and also owned the Rimswell pub and the Buck Inn in Sadberge
Second from left is my great granny Molly Farndale. This was her local, she lived on Pottery Street just up the road.
Ron and Judy Pike were the landlord and landlady of the Rimswell pub on Bishopton Road West. they then moved to The Buck in Sadberge. I was a neighbour and schoolboy friends with Judy and her brother Peter. Their family name was Gilbert and they lived opposite me in Balaclava Street, Stockton.
Yes Keith the Sunderland captain in the 1973 F.A. Cup-Final Bobby Kerr was their relief manager at the Rimswell, Judy & Peter were pupils at Newham Grange School.
My Great grandfather? Fairs ran the hotel in the 1920/30’s.
I lived there in the 70’s the landlord and landlady were my mam and dad Ron and Judy Pike the two on the right
I remember the Atkinsons in the fifties, it was my dad’s local. His bike used to be parked up for hours outside. His siblings used to tell mother this so he had no excuses.
My Grandfathers sister and husband used to run the Royal George at Thornaby (Fred and Rosie Atkinson) way back in the fifties does anybody remember them? My grandfathers name was Tommy Hodson from Stockton.
Remember them with great fondness. Had many a Pint with Fred when our Mick and I did some decorating for them. Rosie was a lovely lady.
In the 1960s an upstairs room at The Royal George was used every Friday by Teesside Clarion Cycling Club as a meeting place.
The man standing at the rear is The then Landlord, Ron. The lady far left is his wife Judy. They left The George not long after this photo was taken and took over The Buck in Sadburge.
I think the lady on the left could be Nancy Knox, wife of the well known character Tommy.
