I used to take a 7A bus from Countisbury Road (Junction Road) to The Red Lion as a 9 year old visiting my grandmother on Leicester Road (Albany Estate) around the time this photo was taken and remember seeing those vehicles like that as I walked. Being a worrying child, I was always terrified that one of the engines would come out with its alarm blaring and knock me down because there was no pavement and the relief upon reaching the opposite pavement was huge! 🙂
