Stockton Central Library opened in 1969 on Church Road, Stockton.
The first photograph shows the coffee bar and seating area within the library. We believe the two ladies serving behind the counter are Mrs Riley and Mrs Kent.

The two coffee bar assistants were indeed Mrs Riley, Ella, I seem to recall, and Dorothy Kent. I was based in Stockton Library from 1974 to the mid 80s, and my office was right next to the coffee bar, a very convenient situation.

Leslie you should know some of the characters in the Lucan Street Blackpool illuminations photo who were in the Boys Brigade with you… https://picturestocktonarchive.wordpress.com/2015/11/25/lucan-street-blackpool-illuminations-trip-c1960/
I was never in the Boys’ Brigade, so do not know anybody in the Lucan Street Blackpool Illuminations photo!!
Leslie Meynell.
You would of known Colin Taylor’s grandma Mrs Mole from Byron Street.
Exactly as I remember it on my Saturday visits alone from the age of 10, about 1970. Swapped books, then sat and read with refreshments.
The woman on the right behind the counter is Mrs Kent.
