I remember that type of double deck ‘bus, with the roof protruding slightly over the upstairs window. I remember seeing them in Stockton, were they United or Stockton Corporation ? I also remember that Crosville had them when I lived in Warrington from 1948 to 1958.

A most distinguished set of buildings…..has largely been lost
The clue is Rossi’s, it was on the corner of Castlegate next to the Empire Theatre. It is the south end of the High Street now the Castlegate centre.
Can anyone say whereabouts on the current high street these shops would have stood please.
The shops and the Royal stood to the left of John Walker Square before demolition to make the shopping centre
The Castlegate Center now stands on the site of these shops.
