I remember Chris Robson too. Her father was a policeman. Lovely girl, we use to be pals.
Lynda House, was Brown!
Happy memories! My gran introduced me to the library around 1960. I seem to recall going twice a week simply because she could devour 2 books in quite rapid time. I remember her joy when the ration was increased to 3 books. It must have been my gran who introduced me to Richmal Cromptom. I must have read every Just William book from Stockton Library.
I remember this Library with great affection with living in Milbank St. I was using it every week.
I worked in the library too and remember Chris and Laurence. I was Irene Metcalfe then.
My husband and I were talking about Mr Webster just the other day. He was a character.
Who was the pretty girl in the 3rd picture?
The pretty girl in the third photo is Jennifer Atkinson. I worked there at that time, I was Lynda Brown. Looking at those photos brings it all back! Must be 50 years ago.
I remember Jennifer. Very pretty with long blonde hair!
Mr Webster… Oh yes, very pernickety and as you say quite a character. The Head Librarian was Mr Leighton. There was also a Mr Greenland, Mrs Jameson… Geoffrey Daniel…
And Pat Hepple.
