Repairs or maintenance on a segment of road, Billingham Road in Norton c1960s?
Pleased to see this photograph as I worked on erecting the shuttering for this wall when I was an apprentice joiner with Stockton Council. Not altogether sure of the exact year but believe it may have been between 1959/1961.
Although the formwork was a proprietary metal column and clip-in pan system, it was the joiners responsibility to erect, align and brace the system in place prior to the placing of the concrete. This was carried out in several lifts.
I remember this being finished in the early 1960’s if not late 50’s – Yes it is the Nursery where I went as a child. Well I wouldn’t go as an adult would I?
This was when they widened the road and that is the Nursery building at Norton High Street School. I left NHS in 1959 but I can’t remember if this widening was completed by then.
