A forklift driver loading boxes onto delivery truck at the Jam Factory (CWS Preserves Factory) on Yarm Road, Stockton c1950s.

According to Mr James Brindley, curator of the National Forklift Truck Heritage Centre, the photo shows a Wrigley Forklift model E650. This was an electrically powered version of an earlier model, and was launched about 1955. These forklifts were built down in Poole by Wessex Industries. The E650 could lift 1,250 lb, or half-a-ton!
