The Billingham Branch of the Royal British Legion’s Christmas Party sometime in the 1950’s. Father Christmas was played by my late father John Thompson. My paternal grandmother was an active member of the Royal British Legion for many years and helped to organise the annual party.

Absolutely delightful for the children I recall the CEGB (The Central Electricity Generating Board) running such a party every year at the West Avenue Social Club in Billingham. Employers once considered it almost a duty to look after the young and retired like this -sad that those days have gone.
I remember the legion party xx
Eleanor – Were you there in the late 50’s early 60’s?
