Catherine MacDonald Maclean

My mother Catherine worked as a nurse at Stockton and Thornaby Hospital from about 1943 until approximately 1953(?) where she had many happy memories.

She always spoke so highly of the support she received from the hospital, as she was allowed to continue working there when her first child (my late half-brother) was born out of wedlock in 1946. My mother fought for her right to keep her baby despite the social stigma at the time.
