Former child of Middlesbrough it was always a rare treat to catch the O or 0 bus from Doggie or North Ormesby to Stockton Market. Love these old photos as I was always surprised by the width of Stockton High Street.
I was in that hospital as a child of 5 years old back in 1952. While I was in a younger child opposite me was suffering with burns. He cried non stop. In pain for days.
I will never forget that nightmare, until one night about 2am in the morning when no nurses were around the noise stopped. I can still remember it clearly, a nurse crept in looked around to see if
all the other children were asleep (I was wide awake).
Then two men came in opened the curtains around his bed, shook him, then wrapped his body into a large sheet and carried him out of the ward. He must have been dead.
