The Holy Trinity Churchyard (the Chuggie) was our playground when I was a kid in the early fifties. It was the only place in Parkfield that had any grass. On Saturday mornings after the kids” matinees at the Odeon we”d play out the cowboys and indians pictures among the ancient gravestones – Harry Rhodes once commented that you can still see the bullet hole scars in some of them! – and Tarzan in some of the trees that were so easy to climb. I remember one kid called Bradshaw who climbed up to the clock on the church tower and fell off. He was laid up for a long time but he survived.
