Static water tanks were all over Stockton. They were there to supply water for the Fire Brigade in case water was short it that area. They were there so long that they even had fish in them. The eggs of which had been deposited by the gulls that settled on the water.
This picture of the North End of Stockton High Street looks like a picture during World War 2. It looks like one of the Emergency water tanks in the centre of the High Street for fire brigade use. There was another one at the South end of the High Street, boys used to sail boats on them.
