I worked here as a motorbike mechanic for T. Cowie in 1958. I was on 4 shillings and 2 pennies an hour. That’s about 20p today. Happy times. Derek Brittain.
Frank,this is the Church you were looking for,on the corner of Hume Street.
This church had a big hall in the basement under the church. Rex Hazelton the Stockton goalkeeper used to play the church organ.
I remember a musical Festival held at this church,I was in the William Newton choir, competing against other school choirs, our music mistress was a Mrs Atkinson, the year would be approx. 1947/8.

The site has not been Cowies for many years. It is now the premises of a funeral director
