My Dad, Jim Hall owned The International Restaurant above Presto’s in the 1970’s. We lived down Valley Drive at the time! My parents were good friends with a lot of famous footballers including John Craggs, George Heslop and The Charlton brothers.
My grandmother lived at Holmdene opposite the garage when I was a child and I remember the garage vaguely. I now work in Sainsburys, (where the garage was). Does anybody know of any accidents or fatalities on the site or have any photos of the people at work in the garage?
My father, Clive Lodge, & his brother, Jack Lodge, owned the garage.
The building to the near left was Victoria garage, the pumps just visible. It was owned by the Lodge family from Kirkleavington the garage used to repair cars and sell new ones they were a roots main dealer. I worked there many a time after leaving school wiring up lifts compressors ect for a local electrical firm Cartmell electrics
