i remember the public toilets well, there used to be a stall to the right of the picture that sold second hand clothes. while i had a browse along with lots of others because of hard times, my oldest daughter fell off the roof down on to the steps – she was rushed to middlesboro hospital and after three days released -with no injures thank god. she is now 46 years old .
The low building in the foreground is the subterranean public convenience with a glass block roof. Almost a permanent fixture of the market was the cream coloured tripe van (just out of view on right).
