I used to ride my bike to Stockton Market, towing my friend Ray Beddard sat in a pram. We collected all the wooden fruit boxes, took them back to Thornaby, chopped them up and sold them for sticks to light the fires at 2 pence a bundle and then off to the cinema for the night.
