  1. I believe this was the first Co-operative store in Stockton-On-Tees. When it first opened in January 1870 four hundred people were given a tea party.

    • This was the Stockton Co-op`s first purpose built store. They commenced in 1866 with a small shop in Garbutt Street.

  2. Yes, the junior library was in the shop behind the second car from the right and opposite was the adult library. Robert, did you resort to the practice of hiding a ” swoppable” book,such as another Biggles to be used as currency to exchange with someone bringing in another” swoppable” similar book. Happy days!

  3. I believe the Stockton Junior Library was in one of the shops in this block, where I first met “Just William” and “Biggles”. Was the “Big Library” (adult) opposite ??
