Ex army vehicle

The registration EYG comes from the Leeds area, hope this helps in some little way. (This information was kindly provided by Brian)This looks like an ex-army vehicle sometime after the 1939-45 war.  The dress of the children could be 1950s.  Any idea where it is? The 2 level pavement puzzles me, I cannot remember any where around here, can anyone help with the paving? (This information was kindly provided by Robert Dicken)
I was struck by the car number. During the 50s, all locally registered cars (i.e. Middlesbrough) had the letters XG. You could identify where a car came from by the letters on the numberplate. I dont know about EYG as in the photo (East Yorkshire, maybe?). The AA Handbook issued every year had a list in the front of the letter groups and where they came from. 1. EYG 921 is a West Riding issue of June 1946, so probably suggests that the wagon was “demobbed” in the Leeds area. The trade licence, partly obscured by the starting handle, looks like 228 D, which, if memory serves, was a Kent issue. Are we sure this is a local picture?
