The oil tanker Empire Law was built by Richardson Westgarth & Co at Haverton Hill shipyard and owned by Anglo Saxon Petroleum Co. Ltd. The gross tonnage of the ship was 8128. The keel was laid on 16th December 1942 and the ship was launched on 27th November 1943

Currently working on the oral history of a friend whose first trip to sea as deck apprentice was on the “Empire Law”” maiden voyage in 1944. Any further information about this ship”s service under Anglo Saxon management would be appreciated.
The photo shown as EMPIRE LAW, 1943, is not the correct vessel. The photo is of a general cargo ship. EMPIRE LAW was a tanker. EMPIRE LAW was built by the Furness Shipbuilding Co. Ltd., Haverton Hill. Only her engines were built by Richardson Westgarth. Her owners were the Ministry of War Transport, but she was managed by the Anglo-Saxon Petroleum Co.Ltd. In 1946 she became the WAVE CONQUEROR owned by the British Admiralty, and she was eventually broken up in 1960.
