A royal visit by King George VI and Queen Elizabeth to ICI, Billingham in 1942
In the bottom photo the man standing to the left of the Queen (as you look at it) is my grandfather Mr William Garrick Wishart (who started working in Billingham in 1929 as a chemical engineer).
Where were these photo’s taken? I cannot make them out.
Somewhat belatedly I would say outside of and around the then headquarters of Chilton House on Chiltons Avenue .
I remember this well, I was about 5 at the time. I think the queen was wearing pale blue.
