‘Stockton in Steam’ aims to celebrate the advent of the world’s first commercially successful public railway; in 1825 in Stockton.  We hope to show you how the railway was born in Stockton, and to also explore the growth of the locomotive, the stations and the Companies that were involved in the railway and the town’s history.
